The Early Days

The history of Kian Hong Cycle dates back to 1946, when its founder Mr Ng Hian Poo started a bicycle store at 72 Cecil Street in downtown Singapore. The family-based business was built from scratch with the offer of basic bicycle servicing and sale of bicycles and parts.

In the 1960s, business grew rapidly as a thriving cycling community was born. It also provided the company with an opportunity to enter the wholesale business. Among the brands Kian Hong Cycyle represented were Legnano, the Ferrari of the cycling world at that time, and Campagnolo components, which it still distributes today.

As it continued to grow, the company moved to a larger store at  313 Tanjong Katong Road in the 1980s. In those days, Raleigh was one of the flagship bicycles it distributed.

In the 1990s, Kian Hong Cycle gradually evolved into a regional distributor as it moved its focus onto a variety of parts and accessories.

In January 2005, the company moved again to a 6,000-sft warehouse premise at Eunos Technolink.

January 2010 was another milestone for Kian Hong Cycle when the doors of its flagship store at Vertex were opened, showcasing Scott bikes and a multitude of bike parts and accessories.

At Eunos Technolink, Kian Hong Cycle continued to expand its office and warehouse, initially to a 9,300 sft space in November 2012, and again to the present 15,900 sft premise since May 2013.
