How to convert ape / cue to mp3 in Mac OS X
Generally, you’re not able to play ape/cue in your itunes. What you need to do is to convert ape or cue to mp3 or aiff to play the music. There are plenty of app available in the net. However, the app that I’m using right now is xACT. In brief, xACT stands for X Audio Compression Toolkit. It is a GUI based front end for the unix applications Shorten , shntool, monkey’s audio compressor, flac, wavpack , TTA and cdda2wav. In addition, It also uses sox, LAME, AtomicParsley, TagLib and mp4v2. It executes the basic commands of these applications and adds other features to speed up productivity in creation/use of etree.org standard filesets.
So, What Next ? Download the app (download link at bottom) and run the program.
Typically, we need to Split the ape file into individual audio tracks in .aiff format as shown above.
Firstly, go to the tab of “shntool” and click and drag your ape file into the empty drop box. Consequently, select split and the aiff. Lastly, to execute the conversion, you have to click “Call Shntool“.
On the other hand, if you want to convert aiff to mp3, you can just use the iTunes by selecting the aiff file and click on convert selection to mp3 from the advance menu.
