DAY 4 – 6th Dec 2007

8.30am :-, visit Amber Fort
Amber Fort is one of the major tourist attractions of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Amber Fort is usually pronounced as Amer Fort. The construction of the Fort was started in 1592, by Raja Man Singh.

The Meenas were the original builders of Amber, which town they consecrated to Amba, the Mother Goddess, whom they knew as `Gatta Rani’ or `Queen of the Pass’ [ Tod.II.282 ].

DAY 6 – 8th Dec 2007
11.00 am Check-in Air India. Once again, the plane delays for an hour.
Finally, we reach Srinagar at 3.00 pm and the place is full of army. Accordingly, Srinagar is the summer capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India, and is situated in the valley of Kashmir.

The houseboats in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir are usually stationary. They are usually moored at the edges of the Dal and Nageen lakes. Some of the houseboats there have been built in the early 1900’s, and are still being rented out to tourists.

The Dal Lake is a famous lake in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, in India. The lake itself is connected to a number of other lakes of the Kashmir valley.

The lake covers 18 square kilometers, and is divided by causeways into four basins, called Gagribal, Lokut Dal, Bod Dal and Nagin. Lokut-dal and Bod-dal have an island each in the centre, known as Rup Lank (or Char Chinari) and Sona Lank respectively.

The houseboats in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir are usually stationary. They are usually moored at the edges of the Dal and Nageen lakes. Some of the houseboats there have been built in the early 1900’s, and are still being rented out to tourists.

These houseboats are made of wood, and usually have intricately carved wood panelling. The houseboats are of different sizes, some having up to three bedrooms apart from a living room and kitchen.
